This job oversees, coordinates and participates in the reimbursement department’s financial analysis, accounting, managed care analysis and reimbursement activities including preparation and analysis of monthly net revenue results, quarterly forecasts and annual budgets in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Conducts analysis to support managed care contract negotiation, evaluates payer performance and contract compliance, and oversees recurring and non-recurring special projects. Serves as resource to hospital management on managed care reimbursement-related matters and keeps abreast of new and proposed health care laws and regulations.

Education
Required – Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Work Experience
Required – 5 years of progressively increasing responsibility as a healthcare auditor/consultant or comparable experience in a hospital environment.
3 years of supervisory/management experience with project related responsibilities over a professional staff.
Certifications
Preferred – Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Computer skills and proficiency with Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to role.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
- Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and ability to conduct healthcare financial analysis, produce financial reports and effectively engage in third party reimbursement accounting.
- Excellent leadership, supervisory, organizational and project management skills including ability to be self-directed, prioritize, organize and coordinate multiple work assignments to achieve expected results within internal and external deadlines without supervision.
- Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills and ability to use creative insight to develop unique financial analyses and research complex regulatory issues.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to promote positive work relationships with fiscal intermediary, auditors, consultants and legal advisers.
- Ability to travel throughout and between facilities and work a flexible work schedule.
Job Duties

Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
Mechanical lifting devices (carts, dollies, etc.) or team lifts should be utilized.
Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.
The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
