Ochsner Health – DEPARTMENT Of OPHTHALMOLOGY

Ochsner Health is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible OPTOMETRIST. Position Highlights:

  • We are looking for an optometrist with an interest in working in partnership with Corneal Specialists to manage medical and peri-operative (pre and post op) patients in a unique co-management arrangement within the department of Ophthalmology at Ochsner Medical Center. 
  • This physician extender would be responsible for diagnosing and managing conditions such as keratoconus, Fuch’s Dystrophy, ocular inflammatory and infectious conditions in the acute and chronic stages. This individual would assist in the preoperative assessment and long term post operative care of Lasik, cataract, Crosslinking, and corneal transplant patients. They would fit specialty contact lenses for keratoconus and post PKP patients and manage medication prescriptions. 
  • This position is intended to facilitate a unique environment for the optometrist working closely with an MD partner to gain the skills required to manage these complex patients. Interested applicants should have a strong desire to acquire a depth of knowledge related to the medical management of anterior segment pathology, work well in a team environment and in a co-management relationship with MDs, learn independently, and keep patient care as priority.
