This job provides legal support to the general counsel and other legal department attorneys and provides legal advice and counsel to internal clients on a variety of matters related to a large healthcare system and medical/clinical environment, including legal, risk, healthcare and regulatory matters.
Education
Required – Juris doctorate from an accredited law school.
Work Experience
Required – 2 years of risk management and/or litigation experience with a law firm, governmental regulatory organization, healthcare organization, or corporate legal department.
Preferred – Experience in a hospital or medical/clinical environment or representing clients in the healthcare industry.
Certifications
Required – Current admission to practice law in state of practice or active bar membership in at least one US jurisdiction and ability and commitment to obtain bar membership (in the state of practice) within time frame approved by general counsel.

Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the organization.

Ability to be flexible with regard to varied assignments and willing to develop new areas of expertise.

Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., more than 8 hours a day).
Job Duties
-
Delivers legal services to the health system’s internal clients as a member of the the company’s legal department.

Manages internal and external litigation, primarily professional and general liability.

Performs legal research, training and general corporate legal support as assigned.

Strong background in data analytics.

Identifies and guards against legal risks.

Interacts with and directs outside counsel and administrative staff.

Performs other related duties as required.
