Ochsner Medical Center located in Kenner, LA is seeking a dynamic physician to serve as Site Lead for the Emergency Department. The Site Lead will collaborate with senior leadership to drive the clinical and quality performance of the department and ensure patient safety and satisfaction, as well as provider engagement.

Daily:

  • Consider “daily” emails to harvest positives and share updates with clinicians and key targets
  • Be responsive to scheduling issues, possible surge help requests
  • Set expectations for providers representing you and the group at daily huddles – engaged participation
  • Address any risk management issues timely – involve legal and System Chair
  • Manage all complaints timely – keep logs of complaints by clinician
  • Review daily key metrics-volume, LWBS, LOS, D2D, D2EKG, Lab/Rad TATs

Weekly:

  • Review volume, productivity, performance multiple times each week (eventual calculator)
  • Meet with Nurse Manager to review issues/to do list
  • Meet with HM counterpart to review key metrics/issues/to do list
  • Co-rounding with nursing or HM counterpart on pts in the ED or admitted – feedback to providers
  • “drop in” to c-suite as possible for social, optics, and to explore possible issues
  • Perform any “hard conversations” as indicated with clinicians
  • Review documentation deficiencies-communicate to providers with open charts w/deadline for completion

Monthly:

  • Set schedule/assist scheduler to complete the schedule.  Released at least 30 days in advance – update recruiting needs as indicated
  • Monthly rounding on clinicians/retention conversations
  • Regularly review clinician documentation with feedback
  • Attend all key committee meetings in person or by proxy of your partners
  • Monthly meeting with Nurse manager with agenda and rolling work list
  • Monthly meeting with c-suite with agenda/issues/updates/brainstorming – performance review
  • Monthly meeting with clinicians with agenda and rolling work list
  • Monthly meeting with HM counterpart with agenda and rolling work list
  • Monthly meeting with System Chair/VP with agenda and rolling work list – monitor financial performance of department
  • Monthly EM Council call
  • Monthly rounding with patient experience coach
  • Monitor and report quality/sepsis/patient experience/data as indicated
  • ED collaborative every other month
  • Orientation/onboarding all new clinicians (manual/checklist?) to polices/procedures/expectations/conflict resolution – formalized process.  Closely monitor new providers and give feedback on performance

Quarterly:

  • Official meeting with C-suite/VP/NM/System Chair to assess overall performance and change targets/focus as indicated
  • Attend official Med staff meetings/activities.  Be involved with the community when possible.

Annually:

  • Confirm review APP annual eval
  • Conduct annual evaluation on all FT physicians (and others as indicated)
  • Meet with VP and System Chair to review your needs/aspirations/performance – review running list of accomplishments/projects
  • Rotate presentation on Monthly EM council call
  • Attend System Leadership meetings as indicated
  • Confirm compliance with MIPS or other performance tools as indicated
  • Participate fully in regulatory investigations (EMTALA, JCAHO, DHH, etc.)
  • Participate in the annual budget process with VP/System Chair
  • Encourage clinician’s participation with annual engagement survey and continually strive to improve clinician engagement

Education 

Board certified or eligible for certification in physician’s primary specialty

Licensed Practicing Provider MD/DO

Credentialed and willing to maintain clinical practice
