This role is dedicated to the agile transformation of Ochsner Journey Teams. In consultation with other experienced agile experts at Ochsner, via an Agile CoE model, the Agile Transformation Program Manager role is the central coach, trainer and program manager dedicated to improving how Ochsner’s Connected Health organization delivers customer solutions through Journey Teams.

Ochsner’s Journey Teams are evolving. We started with a few Journey teams last year and we are adapting our transformation approaches as we scale up the next 4 – 6 Journeys. This isn’t a cookie cutter scrum team roll out, with the primary variables being the introduction of agile concepts, new ceremonies, and key scrum roles to an engineering team. The right candidate adapts their coaching and communication style for a company with a proud tradition of promoting internally. Many of our hit-the-ground running employees have jumped into new roles in a new way of working. Additionally, the development team members are typically Epic EHR Analysts, as opposed to full stack engineers.

Education

Required - Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, health science or related field.

Work Experience

Required - 7 years of project management experience.

Certifications

Required - PMP or equivalent (Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Master Change Agent, AGILE Project Management, or Program Management Professional).

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

The following examples illustrate the role as coach, trainer, and program manager, constantly flexing to serve the program, teams, and individuals:

  • Agile transformations are intentional culture shifts that require agile maturity assessments, training, a clear approach & plan to achieve the goals, a community dedicated to process improvements, and effective communication.

  • In addition to managing and measuring the success of the phase-based approach for Journeys, the candidate will be able to quickly create and convey a plan for all aspects of the transformation.

  • As new agile toolsets (e.g., SPM, ClickUp) are introduced and enhanced, the candidate acts as the subject matter expert for toolset requirements.

  • Through training and coaching, team members (in various roles) experience an educational progressionIn the future, team members who were never in this role previously can onboard others about the responsibilities and purpose of their role.

  • While all roles are critical, focused training and coaching is given to those roles with multiple scrum team responsibilities (e.g., Scrum Masters, Product Owners).

  • Journey teams are managed and measured via the phase-based agile team progression, (e.g., specific artifact introduction or completion targets for various phases).This role ensures the progression occurs as planned and any deviations are communicated for resolution. 

  • Ability to travel throughout and between facilities.

Job Duties

  • Formulates, organizes and monitors inter-connected projects in conjunction with complex and strategic teams.

  • Works in tandem with relevant leadership and executives on decisions and strategies as they correlate to the function’s strategic plan and high visibility projects

  • Leads, coaches, and mentors project managers and other staff.

  • Develops and supports the control of deadlines, budgets and activities.

  • Manages the escalation of high priority risk mitigation and change management.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Recognized agile guru with a deep knowledge ofvarious SDLCs, includingwaterfall, hybrid, scrum, kanban, and at least 1 scaled agile methodology framework (e.g., SAFe, DAD, LeSS).

  • Passionate about collaboration and improving patient care through solution deliveryOchsner is a not-for-profit health care systemWe will favor candidates with healthcare experience that understand the keys to driving customer value with a speed to market mindset

  • Beyond the agile background, their passion, their toolkit, and organization the candidatehas provenprogram management, change management & communication skillsetsto keep Leadership, and the Journey teams, apprised of what’s coming, what’s next, and any impediments.
