This job supervises, coaches, mentors, and directs both direct and indirect reports. Collaborates with business unit managers and organizational leadership, to review, evaluate, analyze and provide solutions and recommendations necessary to maintain an effective and system-wide program, including auditing, monitoring, education, privacy, and reporting. Coaches, oversees, and leads team efforts related to audits, projects, and regulatory consultations for the company. Sponsors and leads projects for reviewing, investigating, auditing and monitoring issues regarding compliance and is an innovative designer and trainer of compliance and enterprise risk reduction programs. Collaborates with organizational leadership to effectively incorporate the program across all system operations, contributes to strategic planning, direction and overall accountability and collaborates to develop, revise and implement procedures, policies and programs.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education
Required - Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business administration or related field.
Preferred - Advanced degree in healthcare or other related field.
Work Experience
Required - 8 years of progressive experience in healthcare compliance, operations, regulatory compliance, risk management, audit, law, or similar field,
OR
Advanced degree in related field plus 6 years related experience.
Certifications
Preferred - Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC), Certification in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or related healthcare or healthcare compliance certification obtained within 6 months of hire.

- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to operate in a collaborative, shared leadership environment with a high degree of confidence, exercise leadership initiative and a demonstrate a results-oriented approach to management.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills and ability to prepare and present results, solutions and recommendations to diverse audiences including physicians, management and staff.
- Advanced organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Ability to be self-directed with strong analytical and operational problem-solving skills.
- Advanced judgment and decision-making skills and ability to foster an environment of teamwork, professionalism, customer satisfaction, high performance, and mutual respect of others and demonstrate the highest sense of integrity and exercise unprejudiced and unbiased judgment on behalf of the company.
- Adept at gathering information and understanding problems quickly, seeking out cause-and-effect relationships that identify underlying issues or problems, which includes advanced knowledge of interviewing skills and reading and comprehending complex documents.
- Strong problem solving, conflict management and consensus building skills and ability to remain flexible with regard to varied assignments and willingness to develop new areas of expertise.
- Advanced knowledge of compliance concepts, applicable laws and regulations, business risk, effective risk management techniques and auditing, and compliance's role in corporate governance and its key relationships with the audit committee, board, and executive and operating management and ability to translate complex laws and regulations into easily understood concepts, apply those concepts to a function or process, and teach/instruct others on these matters.
- Ability to travel regionally to various sites.
Job Duties
- Leads team members and organizational business partners to maintain an effective compliance program by ensuring that all project planning, performance, documentation, follow-up and organization is conducted in accordance with department standards.
- Supervises, coaches and oversees teams and sponsors and leads projects to resolve potential compliance issues collaboratively with other departments.
- Effectively and timely communicates with key stakeholders about projects, initiatives and strategies to resolve issues and achieve desired corrective action.
- Develops and promotes strategy for and provides in-services and other educational services to organization, management, and employees regarding risks, controls and compliance-related matters.
- Maintains advanced technical compliance regulatory knowledge; develops and oversees implementation of strategic compliance solutions for the organization, management, and employees.
- Pursues self-development individually and sponsors self-development for team members, which is comprised of internal, external and self-administered curriculum, as well as regular reading of applicable journals, periodicals and publications.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
