The Enterprise Communications team at Ochsner is responsible for building, growing, and protecting Ochsner’s reputation in a way that shapes the external environment and nurtures internal culture and the successful fulfillment of the organization’s strategic plan. Our work is dedicated to delivering exceptional communications strategy, consultation and support for nearly 40,000 team members across Ochsner’s 46 hospitals and more than 370 health and urgent care centers. The Manager of Enterprise Communications Platforms is a critical leader on this dynamic team, implementing our internal digital communications platform scaling strategy while ensuring the stability, integrity and efficient operation of all internal communications platforms. This role oversees the daily operations, maintenance, support, and optimization of all applications used to communicate with Ochsner team members and works to optimize their use to serve as a national best practice for internal communications.

Education

Required - Bachelor's degree in Communications, Computer Science, English, Journalism, Business Administration, or related field.

Work Experience

Required - 7-10 years corporate, internal or business communications experience with demonstrated experience working within and preferably overseeing digital communications strategy and content management platforms such as Firstup.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Advanced, demonstrated experience working in content management systems, preferably Firstup.

    · Strong people leadership and self-direction, exhibiting advanced judgement in handling difficult situations, collaboratively solving challenges and maintaining absolute discretion.

    · Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of required job information.

    · Advanced experience working with Workday or similar employee data frameworks.

    · Advanced experience with analytics reporting software like Google Analytics.

    · Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with an ability to translate complex topics into actionable, understandable and persuasive messaging.

    · Ability to present information confidently and professionally to varying levels of individuals including the organization’s most senior leaders.

    · Analytical skills and logical thought processes in order to formulate solutions to problems.

    · Experience and proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.

    · Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g. weekend, holiday, on call availability as needed to meet organizational need).

    · Knowledgeable of current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility, along with compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.

Job Duties

  • Leads strategy and editorial oversight for Ochsner’s instance of the workforce communications platform and the organization’s intranet. Develops and documents strategic communications plans and the tactics to execute them for continual improvement intended to increase adoption and engagement and manage governance and quality control.

    · Proactively monitors and stays up to date on new product features, regularly sharing the latest updates and learnings with all internal content publishers. Hosts ongoing education and training workshops to ensure creators and publishers are trained in new features and confident in their use.

    · Leads team of content creators and publishers, and works with larger communications team to manage editorial calendar, campaigns, prioritization and quality control.

    · Creates a training plan and process with materials that will be used to train content publishers efficiently. Oversees testing and troubleshooting and serves as a consistent resource for team member support for content building, audience creation and other platform support needs.

    · Cross-trained to create and manage newsletters, drip campaigns, workflows, polls, etc.

    · Onboards and trains new team content publishers as well as content creators outside the core communications function.

    · Develops and maintains communications governance plans to clarify and improve processes related to permissioning, content creation, delivery and information management.

    · Oversees analytics for all internal communications platforms, proactively monitors and maintains metrics on campaign performance and makes recommendations for real-time improvement. Produces and delivers regular analytics reports and presents them to executive leadership.

    · Serves as the primary contact between Ochsner and digital platform vendors and contractors and provides platform, program, contract and vendor oversight.

    · Maintains relationship with HR information and data team related to Workday employee data integration, including the development of audiences as well as partnership integrations and acquisitions.

    · Works in partnership with Ochsner’s UX team and the Enterprise Communications team to fully optimize and expand the workforce communications platform’s capabilities (command integrations, screensavers, technical troubleshooting, etc) and enhance the design and user experience of the organization's internal communications presence.

    · Manages all internal projects and client requests for intranet and platforms updates, manages client expectations, schedules and project deadlines.

Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.

The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
