The Principal Cloud Architect will lead the design, implementation, and management of an enterprise-grade hybrid cloud infrastructure. The role is pivotal in enabling healthcare providers, supporting patients, and ensuring scalable, secure operations.

Education

Required – Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred - Master’s Degree

Work Experience

Required – 10 years experience in IT/IS, with a focus on cloud architecture and implementation.

Certifications

Required – Public Cloud Architecture Certification(s)

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Cloud Platforms: Expertise in multi-cloud environments (e.g: AWS, GCP, Azure).

  • Cloud Architecture & Strategy: Strong experience in designing scalable, secure, cost-optimized, and highly available cloud platform solutions (e.g: multi-account strategy, Cloud Landing Zone, Cloud FinOps, Cloud Security Posture Management).

  • Cloud Networking & Connectivity: Expertise in cross-cloud and hybrid cloud connectivity, private cloud networking, and cloud internal DNS architectures.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation: Proficiency in Terraform, CloudFormation, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins and Git.

  • Cloud Security, Compliance, and Governance: Deep understanding of cloud IAM, RBAC, The principle of least privilege, and regulatory standards like HIPAA; experience with cloud-native security tools.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

Job Duties

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive cloud strategy that aligns with the organization's goals. Designs hybrid cloud solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing systems. Ensures the cloud architecture supports scalability, security, and high availability. 

  • Leads a team of cloud engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cloud solutions. Works closely with healthcare providers to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements. Provides technical leadership and mentorship to team members. 

  • Implements robust security measures to protect sensitive patient data and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (i.e. HIPAA). Conducts regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate risks.         

  • Stays up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and industry trends. Continuously evaluate and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, cost-efficiency, and reliability. Drives innovation by exploring new cloud services and solutions that can benefit the organization.    

  • Manages cloud-related projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget. Develops and maintain detailed project plans, status reports, and documentation.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
