This job administers psychological tests to child, adolescent and adult inpatient and outpatient populations, scores tests, compiles results, writes behavioral observations, administers and scores computer-based assessment procedures. Maintains testing supplies and computer services and participates in psychology related activities such as research, projects, etc.

Education 

Required - Bachelor's degree in Psychology


Work Experience

Required - 1 year experience in administration of intellectual and personality assessment procedures.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.

  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.

  • Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work for extended periods of time on a one-to-one basis with a diverse patient population.


Job Duties

  • Administers and scores individual IQ and personality tests to children and adults.

  • Processes computer based reports for psychological tests, social histories, etc.

  • Writes detailed observations of patient's behavior during testing.

  • Maintains testing materials and computer scoring services.

  • Scores behavioral checklists for child psychiatry/psychology.

  • Assists in section/departmental research.

  • Keeps abreast of departmental/section activities and educational opportunities.

  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Physical and Environmental Demands

The physical essential functions of this job include (but are not limited to) the following:  Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects; occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.


Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.

Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur.

The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases
