Ochsner Children’s Hospital is seeking an experience Physician Leader with a vision and passion to serve as the Section Head for Pediatric Anesthesiology to lead our team of seven Pediatric Anesthesiology faculty for practice at our new freestanding Ochsner Children’s Hospital set to open in 2028. The successful applicant will have a history of leadership experience and a verifiable track record of patient-centered collaboration with surgical specialists. Our pediatric anesthesiology practice includes all subspecialties and spans the spectrum from healthy outpatients to complex neonatal surgery. Qualified candidates will have a strong interest in academics and research. We are a teaching program, with a fully accredited Anesthesiology residency as well as Adult Cardiac Anesthesia, Pulmonary Critical Care and Neurocritical Care fellowship programs. We are in the process of applying for accreditation of a Pediatric Anesthesiology fellowship. The OMC Department of Anesthesiology includes 70 Anesthesiologists, 100 CRNA’s, and >45 house staff, with an annual case volume of >80,000.

With more than 85 primary care pediatricians and 290+ subspecialists across 27 locations in Louisiana and Mississippi Ochsner Children’s is the region’s leader in complex pediatric care

Advanced Programs Include

  • Congenital heart surgery and cardiac transplantation
  • Liver and bone marrow transplantation
  • Hematology-Oncology and AYA Oncology
  • Advanced GI and Hepatology
  • A comprehensive surgical subspecialty group, including craniofacial and advanced spine surgery
  • The Gulf South’s only comprehensive developmental pediatrics center

Facilities & Growth

  • 67-bed Level IV NICU
  • 14-bed PICU and 12-bed CVICU
  • 4-bed NAEC-accredited Level IV Pediatric EMU
  • 44-bed Pediatric Acute Care Unit with a dedicated Pediatric ED
  • 24/7 neonatal and pediatric transport team with ground, rotary, and fixed-wing aircraft support

Future growth: Construction underway for a new 5-story Children’s Hospital, opening in late 2027/early 2028 and planned expansion of neonatal services.

Education & Research

  • ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program, plus the Ochsner Pediatric Residency Program.
  • Teaching opportunities with medical students from Tulane University and the University of Queensland.
  • Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine (currently in LCME accreditation).
