Ochsner Health Baton Rouge is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible PEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGIST to join a busy outpatient based pediatric cardiology practice as a partner to two experienced pediatric cardiologists. The role is a primarily outpatient pediatric cardiology position with some inpatient responsibilities consisting of mainly NICU care and inpatient pediatric cardiology consults at several local hospitals. The position requires a strong background in transthoracic echo. Fetal echo experience is preferred. J-1 visa sponsorship is available.

The Pediatric Cardiology clinic is based at the Shaquille O’Neal Pediatric Super Clinic inside the Ochsner Medical Complex – The Grove.  The fifth floor of the complex is dedicated to treating kids, with a full complement of pediatricians and pediatric specialists. The Ochsner Health Baton Rouge Pediatric Cardiology practice is closely affiliated with the New Orleans based Ochsner Hospital for Children Division of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery. 

Ochsner Health has all pediatric cardiac sub-specialties including EP, ACHD, heart failure & heart transplant, interventional cardiology, imaging including echocardiography and cardiac MRI, and fetal cardiology. Our team includes 3 congenital heart surgeons, and our patients re cared for in a dedicated pediatric cardiac intensive care unit.

·More than 85 primary care pediatricians and 290+ subspecialists across 27 locations in Louisiana and Mississippi.

·The region’s leader in complex pediatric care, with advanced programs in:

oCongenital heart surgery and cardiac transplantation

oLiver and bone marrow transplantation

oHematology-Oncology and AYA Oncology

oAdvanced GI and Hepatology

oA comprehensive surgical subspecialty group, including craniofacial and advanced spine surgery

oThe Gulf South’s only comprehensive developmental pediatrics center

Facilities & Growth

·67-bed Level IV NICU

·14-bed PICU and 12-bed CVICU

·4-bed NAEC-accredited Level IV Pediatric EMU

·44-bed Pediatric Acute Care Unit with a dedicated Pediatric ED

·24/7 neonatal and pediatric transport team with ground, rotary, and fixed-wing aircraft support

·Future growth: construction underway for a new 5-story Children’s Hospital, opening in late 2027/early 2028 and planned expansion of neonatal services

Education & Research

·ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program, plus the Ochsner Pediatric Residency Program.

·Teaching opportunities with medical students from Tulane University and the University of Queensland.

·Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine (currently in LCME accreditation).
